| Introduction |
Crawley ACF (Army Cadet Force) was cap badged REME (Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers) last October, at first we were PWRR (Princess of Wales Royal Regiment). We are part of Sussex ACF is based at Dyke Road in Brighton ( for more info about joining phone 01273 552222 if you live in Sussex). Cadets ages range from 13 to 18 and 9 months. Have a look around the rest of the site and check out the links to other military sites. The ACF is a National Voluntary Youth Organisation. It is sponsored by the Army and provides challenging military, adventurous and community activities. Its aim is to inspire young people to achieve success in life with a spirit of service to the Queen, their country and their local community and to develop in them the qualities of a good citizen. The Aim is achieved by: a.Providing progressive cadet training, often of a challenging and exciting nature to foster confidence, self reliance, initiative, loyalty and a sense of service to other people. b. Encouraging the development of personal powers of practical leadership and the ability to work successfully as a member of a team. c. Stimulating an interest in the Army, its achievements, skills and values. d. Advising and preparing those considering a career in the Services or with the Reserve Forces. Each Company has a Jago Sandero KITKAR, a small jeep like vehicle which can be dismantled to 70 seperate components and then rebuilt within a strict time frame. The KITKAR teams operate from May to October and attend shows and fetes around the South of England and elsewhere. Check out our Display Team 1999 Itinery. The KITKAR display team have been winning contestants on ITV's "You Bet!" twice, once with an all girl team. The teams also represented the Army Cadet Force during the 1998 Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall. Fans of Blue Peter would of watched the teams on Monday 24 May 99 on BBC 1 at 17:15. The teams met Steps and got Blue Peter Badges (WOW). | Jago Jeep | |||||||||||||||||||

| The Signals Platoon |
Signals in the ACF have a very bad reputation especially in Sussex, they are described as lazy, slack and other things that are not true. Signallers train all year round and give a service on camp. It is probley the hardest thing that any cadet could do in the ACF. At camp they are the first people out on the area doing radio rece's to see where the communications are good and bad. They get split up and have to go with other companies, platoons and sections to provide a safety net. The reason of they get a bad reputation is that people only see them in camp resting after the exercises they go on all camp. You learn how to use many different radios, line laying and many other interesting things. Although it is hard, it's a good thing to do. You get your Cross-Flags on your arm. | |||||||||||||||||||
